Water-Flow Manifolds


 

 

Opposite is one of our range of non-contact water flow measurement manifolds. The manifolds incorporate sensors that use the "eddy + ultrasonic" method of detection, without any moving parts, that easily tolerates contaminated cooling water. This offers accurate flow rate measurement that can be monitored and recorded, for the purpose of stable process control in the injection moulding of critical parts.

Signals from the manifold are transmitted to either a PMS hot runner controller with touch screen PC display or a stand alone control box micro with Ethernet connection. PMS touch screen displays have the ability to record the flow data, display the values in a multi-zone 3D time graph or transmit the data to another computer for SPI analysis. In addition, lower limits can be set to protect the mould if the coolant supply is interrupted for some reason. In this case the controller can be set to shutdown the hot runner system to prevent serious overheating and damage of the fixed half.

The flow sensors are available in three versions for flow rates in the ranges 0.5-4L/min, 2-16L/min and 5-40L/min. Manifolds are also available in various port configurations to suit the task. RTD temperature sensors can also be added for cooling efficiency monitoring.

The system has five main advantages.

  • Accurate flow measurement regardless of water quality and contamination.
  • Used in conjunction with a PMS controller it protects the mould from overheating of the hot runner system in the event of a cooling water interruption.
  • Measurements can be recorded, monitored and sent downstream via a network if required for process analysis.
  • The manifold assembly is generally more compact than conventional glass tube arrays.
  • The modular system allows you to add on extra flow-zones as individual channels.
