HRK Series Cabinet

Description - The new controller is a modular design, based on a double height Eurocard format with two rear bus connectors, one for data, one for power. Four card types are available starting with the six zone 5A rated card, suitable for controlling probes. For heavier loads there is a choice of three zone 15A or two zone 20A cards, suitable for medium manifold zones, and the single zone 30A card for larger manifolds. All cards are available with or without online current measurement. The design of the bus addressing system allows for mixing of card types in any order, at the build stage. Using the 6 zone card offers maximum zone density, compared to previous designs.

At present there are three cabinet types available, the smallest is the K6 with 6 card slots. Next up is the K10 with 10 card slots. The larger cabinets are the K20/30/40, all of which follow the same pattern but each one is a little taller, and each accommodates up to another 10 card slots.
The typical capacity for each controller within the K-Series is:

  • K6 - 24 probes with 2-3 mainfolds
  • K10 - 48 probes with 4 manifolds
  • K20 - 96 probes with 8 manifolds
  • K30 - 144 probes with 12 manifolds
  • K40 - 192 probes with 16 manifolds

The K10, K20, K30 and the K40 all use the new TSA console which can be mounted either directly onto the cabinet or at a convenient remote or local position. The TSA console uses the same Touch Screen Software that has become so popular with operators everywhere.

K20/30/40 - Series Cabinets for up to 240 zones

The cabinet construction is designed as a sub chassis and outer case. The whole controller interior is attached to a removable connector panel on the left side. This makes it feasible to mount the sub assembly, as a cassette, into the side of a machine cabinet if required. The case has hinged doors front and rear. The front door is interlocked with key, the rear door requires a special tool/key for entry. Cards are extracted from the front. Cooling is performed by a bank of 80mm radial fans and double filter system in the front and rear doors, forcing air directly across the board heat sinks. Case sealing is to IP54. The base features die cast feet with 80mm castors, with locks on the front two. The cabinet can be supplied with a Touch screen mounted on top, or as a floor standing separate connected to a remote Touch screen via a serial cable, or mounted to the machine on "L" brackets with quick remove latches. Cabinet volume is less than 30% of the CN units previously supplied, for SM cards.

K10 Cabinet for up to 60 zones

The cabinet is designed in a similar manner to the K20, as a controller sub assembly, mounted to the mould connection plate, which is final fitted into the case shell. This makes it feasible to install the controller cassette into a machine cabinet if required, for further space reduction. Cards and switch gear is accessed from an interlocked side door on the right. Cooling is preformed by axial fans, blowing directly across the output heat sinks. Case sealing is to IP54. The base features die cast feet with 80mm castors, with locks on the front two. The cabinet can be supplied with a Touch screen mounted on top, as a floor standing separate connected to a remote Touch screen via a serial cable, or mounted to the machine on "L" brackets with quick remove latches.

The MTS offers a low cost touch screen option, which shares many features of the comprehensive range Touch Screen Consoles.

K6 Cabinet for up to 36 zones

The K6 is designed for sub 24 impression moulds, offering many high end features, in a compact and economical package. Using various modular control card options the K6 can be configured for up to 24 x 15A zones or up to 24 x 5A probe zones and 8 x 15A manifold zones. Higher current cards up to 30A are also available. If preferred the 5.7” MTS2 colour touch screen can be interchanged with the 10.4” KTS3 touch screen, which includes many additional hi-res graphic functions. Both screen types can be used remote to the cabinet if required. The controller is designed with modular rear connector panels so that the connection system can be quickly geared to suit various wiring formats, using stock parts for high speed manufacture. In common with other K-Series cabinets, the K6 has a front access door for easy removal of the control cards, for ease of maintenance and fault diagnosis. Various options include an alarm beacon/sounder, trolley base, enhanced machine signalling functions and non contact water flow/temperature monitoring. The K6 offers a compact and economical modular control system that can be configured to address many moulding applications, with the reliability and ease of use the K-Series has become known for.
